Valley Count Number 6 In The Nation with Highest Percentage of Second Homes

Slide1-1According to the National Association of Builders, Valley Count Idaho has the 6th highest concentration of second homes, at 71.2 %. While it might be nice not to to have the neighbors “around” next door, this does pose economic pressure on local businesses that rely on the local population to support getting them through the slow seasons, in particular Mud Season.

And Another Winter Carnival Comes and Goes……

As a local resident of McCall, you can get a little anxious about Winter Carnival, getting ready for the friends that come up, the office party, preparing the float for the parade, and all the traffic and tourist it brings to McCall. And then it seems as fast as it comes, it goes. Leftover are the run down remains of once proud ice sculptures, trampled snow, and exhausted business owners. And as I reflect on the week that has just passed, you start to feel a little melancholy that the festivities are over. But on the same token, you have a sense of pride for your little mountain town and how well everyone involved pulled off such an awesome event.

Every year it seems as though the ice sculptures get better and better, or maybe its that you get a chance to see them once a year, and are always taken in awe on how they can be so detailed, so creative, almost deifying the elements, and temporarily beating gravity. Soon the warmer temperatures will prevail, and all that will be left are dirty mounds of ice and snow.

Great job by the McCall Chamber of Commerce, without their efforts, none of this would be possible. And of course the tourist that come up to enjoy the festivities, without you, there would be no Winter Carnival.

RE/MAX Participates in Winter Carnival Parade

Special thanks to the Youkstetter family for driving and helping throw frisbees into the Winter Carnival parade goers. We tossed 1000 frisbees into the excited crowd. We would also like to thank Patience for all her help to make it possible. Several “McCall old Timers” said this was one of the best parades they have seen. And nice job to all the volunteers, they are great at organizing chaos!

McCall’s Brundage Mtn. Wins Top Marks by Ski Magazine

Readers of Ski Magazine voted Brundage for three ‘Top Ten” categories in this year’s readers survey. Brundage Mountain was ranked #9 in the West for Families, #10 for Value and #10 for Snow. The word is really getting out about the Best Snow in Idaho and its affordable, family-friendly vibe!

The other resorts on the lists are much larger and much better known than Brundage. To say the least, the Brundage staff and McCall locals are extra proud of this honor because Brundage Mountain managed to get enough votes to get noticed without having hoards of visitors like some of the other finalists.

For the first time, Brundage is offering a free pass for the beginner lift and run to encourage new skiers. So, come out and discover McCall’s Brundage Mountain and find out why people call it the Best Snow in Idaho.
